The story of Newt Scamander, author of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” shall be told in a movie written by Jo Rowling! It will take place in the 1920’s in the wizarding world of New York City. Newt, himself, is British (a Hufflepuff when he attended Hogwarts), but after a brief stint at…
You had me at “1920’s New York”.
You mean I didn’t have you at “JK Rowling Writing a Wizarding World Movie”?!
This is a brilliant article and wonderful case not only for Harry Potter but for reading in general. Author Anthony Gierzynski studied the impact that the Harry Potter series had on its readers and how it influenced almost an entire generation. Key points in his research revealed that fans of Harry Potter were more politically active and less likely to support deadly force than non-fans. Now, of course, while not all of this may be true for everyone, it is an extremely interesting and important thing to be aware of. We’re talking about the power and effect that one (amazing) book series has had on millions of people. I hear people say all the time that Harry Potter saved them and made them who they are today and now we’re looking at research that supports this. This is why reading is important and why we need to support this and support our young readers and writers. I’m serious when I say that reading can change lives. And when I say thank you, JK, for your time and your wonderful books.

I love how Harry just genuinely likes Luna. Not in a romantic way, but in a “I don’t know how or why but I get you and you get me and I’d be honored to call you a friend and if anyone messes with you I’ll wallop them” kind of a way. I think he just marvels at her level of don’t give a fuck and her absolute sense of self. And then he and Ginny partially name their daughter after her (Lily Luna) and that to me is just fucking precious.
